Hot and sustainable.

It was a warm, warm, warm day at the Yarra Sculpture Gallery for the  3D Sustainable opening.

We were under a bridge. Which means we could take this photo.
Don’t we look cute?

from above

It was also a day of:
– hanging out with a grass cow, a nest, an insect motel, a ring of white chairs and many other interesting and beautiful sculptures. We cannot recommend the 3D Sustainable exhibition enough!
– a lady who had rushed past us once at Gordon Reserve, was happily able to see it this time.
– a child snuggling under the covers and refusing to leave.
– being able share the experience with miss Kate Golding, our photographer for the first and other drops. This was very important for us.- discovering this magic tea  Pink & bubbly goodness.
– setting a new record for capacity: a pregnant woman with THREE little ones crawled in with her brood.
…and us forgetting to mention there were pins. Oops.

And for those maybe wondering why the sustainable living festival?
This is our Artist Statement:

aMoment for the future. Of twenty years ago, and twenty years ahead.
Who did we think we would be? Can we still change us, the world?

The caravan is made from 90% salvaged materials, fence pickets, an old trailer, doors, found paint, a friends’ mattress, an old sheet, ribbon from past projects and white trash found on the streets of Brunswick.
That spoon, straw, ipod will outlive us both.

If we all had aMoment maybe we’d make better decisions.
If we all had aMoment maybe the world would change for the better.
This work reminds us we are all responsible.
And not alone.

A frame in a hundred.

Its been six months.
But we know where ONE of our frames from Drop #5 is.
Out of the blue, we received this picture from a Miss Jessica.
It has wandered from Flinders Lane to next door Fitzroy.
Smith St to be exact.

We were so hoping to find out where some of these went!
Now we know.
For at least one.
And you do too.

Thank you Jess for taking time to send this to us.
We appreciate it. Muchly.

Day six in the city streets.

five sets of tears.
two hugs from strangers.
a whispered “I’ll be 38, I’m in between you both.”
a blog post.
dozens of waves. maybe a hundred.
a skate board.
a puppy dog.
some particularly nice shoes.
a friend from geelong, with big ideas.
a man in a suit who took some persuading, but left a-daze.
two homeless men. one very chatty, who followed one of our visitors and was pretty lovely to him.
we hope we get to have more moments soon.
but for now, it’s time for a break.
and reflection.
and our own future-gazing…xx aMoment

Our first Friday. Cohen’s Place.

Fridays definitely seem to have a different rhythm to them.
Or it was the cold wind and threat of rain?
Quiet for the beginning two hours.
Someone fell asleep.
Many tourists. Not sure why. A fair few ready for radiohead.
A family of 4 friends.
A mother and child entered together.
And I rocked a pram while another mother entered.
A man pretended to be our boyfriend to help us with a drunk homeless man who decided to stop for a long chat.
Thank you mister stranger, whoever you were, we really appreciated your generosity and care.
A moment saved.

Sunny Gordon Reserve.

Today was quiet. Sunny. Pensive.
Quiet words. Tears-a-many.
A 6 year old with a pink t-shirt came back three times, but her parents wouldn’t take her in. So we wrote her name instead.
Another 7 year old showed her aunt how to use a typewriter.
A 14 yr old relaxed and lay in side.
We watched a man in a suit have a nap on the lawn.
We hung out with some cheeky birds.
A busker xylophoned as we set up and packed up.
But it is the tears I will remember from today.
Even I shed one….

Tomorrow. Wednesday 14th.

Tomorrow you will find us under a shady tree.
We’ve been there before, and it was lovely.
Behind us leafy green. In front the grid of grey.
Come find us folks.
Sitting pretty near Spring St.
